Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a technique that physically removes the surface of the skin to stimulate healing and rejuvenation. Many people are familiar with micro-dermabrasion, a procedure commonly performed by aestheticians. Many compare this experience to a cat licking the face. While micro-dermabrasion offers a quick refresh of the skin and is performed every month, dermabrasion is a more invasive procedure that results in more dramatic improvement, and is performed usually only once.
While it has been used for full-face rejuvenation, Dr. Andrew uses it as a tool to improve the appearance of surgical scars on the face, where the capacity of the body to heal is greatest. This technique is a quick, rapid, and affordable procedure. After injecting medicine to numb the skin, Dr. Andrew will sand the skin surface until deeper layers of the skin are exposed. Then a dressing is placed over the affected area and the person continues wound care at home while the area heals over 1-2 weeks.

Dr. Andrew uses this technique for surgical scars and acne scars, as well as other scars on the face.
